CAN THEY SKIATE ?

At Least One Muncie Flint Blower Knows

That He Can't.

MUNCIE, IND., Jan. 4. - Winter is upon us in Muncie as well as in other places. Nightly the river is crowded with skaters. Some of the flints are pretty good at skating. If you don't think so, ask them. One of the blowers at the Muncie Glass Works undertook to teach a young lady how it was done the other evening. Accidentally, he fell and lost his hat, very fortunately for the young lady, as the hat offered her a much more comfortable place to sit down upon than the cold bare ice would have been. The hat was a new one. It is said that the blower did not wait to say good night, but took up the wreck, and left instantly. Any one desiring further information should write Harry Williams.

"There is no place like home," especially when "home" is Covington, Ky. If you doubt this, ask Pat English, and the crowd of Hemingray's men who spent the holidays there.

Messrs. Brown and Murray were passengers on the 5:46 a.m. train on the Big Four Sunday, December 23. They missed the "Knickerbocker." Pittsburg was their objective point.

The Muncie Glass Co. started up full Wednesday, January 2. They now work 22 shops, or 66 blowers. Trade seems to be quite brisk, although the prices received for the product are not encouraging. The good record which they have made here for this fire will no doubt be sustained throughout. The only time lost thus far was from Thursday, December 13, to Saturday, December 15, inclusive, when the supply of soda ash gave out. Even this stop did not involve the whole factory. However, when the soda finally came Friday, too late to melt down before Monday, the stock of cullet was very low. - MAGIC CITY.
