Announcement that W. Paul Zimmerman has been placed in charge of the Hemingray division of the Owens-Illinois Glass Company is most gratifying to his many friends and also to the business interests of the city. There have been all sorts of rumors afloat as regards the Hemingray plant since its sale to the Owens-Illinois people and with the departure of Col. McAbee on an extended western trip the rumor was revived that the plant might be closed. However, the announcement of Mr. Zimmerman's appointment as manager of the local property indicates that the operation of the plant will be continued and that efforts will be made to expand the company’s business. Mr. Zimmerman has been associated with the Hemingray plant since 1920 and during his many years residence here he has taken an active part in the civic life of the community, being especially interested in the work of the Delaware County Tuberculosis Association, of which organization he has been the president for the last three years. Muncie will welcome any business expansion by the Hemingray plant and it is especially pleased that Mr. Zimmerman has been chosen to succeed Col. McAbee as local manager.
