Kimble Glass Co., Muncie, a subsidiary of Owens Illinois Glass Co., soon will start production of face plates for television picture tube bulbs, Plant manager Ed Spence announced Wednesday.

The new production item will make necessary reactivation of one of the plant’s furnaces, a small addition to the Kimble building, and installation of some new equipment.

After manufacture here, the television parts will be shipped to Kimble’s Columbus, O. plant for assembly.

Return of the Kimble plant to a two-furnace operation comes after nearly two years of opera­tion from one glass-melting fur­nace. The increase in production will mean additional employment of from 40 to 50 persons at the plant, Spence indicated.
