The green glass works of William Brookfield, generally known as the Bushwick Glass Works, are located on Grand and Maujer streets and Morgan avenue, Brooklyn, with office at 45 Cliff street, New York. These works comprise nine large brick building and occupy a ground area of three and one-half acres, bounded by Grand street with a frontage of 1,000 feet, Maujer street 600 feet and Morgan avenue 180 feet. The capacity of the works has gradually increased until it now reaches 25 tons of glass per day. To turn out this quantity requires four furnaces with 16 pots and a tank of 7 pots. Twenty years ago Mr. Brookfield and his father started the undertaking with one small 5 pot furnace. The steady growth of patronage has been phenomenal and can only be attributed to a life-long experience, a liberal display of enterprise, strict attention paid to the routine work, the fine quality of glass put upon the market and the well-known reputation of the firm for reliability and integrity. The Bushwick Glass Works mnaufacture [sic] manufacture bottles of all descriptions from the two-ounce vial to the carboys containing 15 gallons. Nearly all the insulators that have been used for the past 15 years by the various telegraph companies were made by the Bushwick works, and all the demands from the same source, including the Postal Telegraph Company, are still being supplied. Mr. Brookfield also enjoys the patronage of almost the entire New York market, which he has supplied with carboys for the last 20 years. All the glassware used at the drug mill of Dr. Squibbs, in Brooklyn, has been made for years at the Bushwick and continues to be. These facts furnish indisputable evidence of the excellent quality of the articles manufactured. Next month Mr. Brookfield will accompany his father to Carlsbad, Germany, where the latter is to remain for the benefit of his health. He intends to return immediately and subsequently start on a three months' tour through England and France.
