Dr. Frank B. Cross, Secretary of the faculty of the College of Medicine, University of Cincinnati, and medical director for the Columbia Life Insurance Company, died of a heart attack yesterday at his residence, 2709 Johnstone Place. He was 66 years old.

The Life Squad had responded to many calls to Dr. Cross' home in the last three years. In that time, he suffered 16 serious heart attacks. He was dead upon the arrival of the squad yesterday.

Born at the National Soldier's Home, Dayton, Ohio, he was a son of Dr. Felix G. Cross, founder of the Columbia Life Insurance Company, and Adelaide Bradley Cross.

When attending the University of Cincinnati as a medical student, Dr. Cross was a football player. After his graduation from the university in 1895, he studied in London, Vienna, and Germany.

SECRETARY OF FACULTY.

Widely known as an eye specialist, Dr. Cross became assistant professor of ophthalmology at the Medical College here. He had been Secretary of the college faculty since 1915. For two years he was clinical assistant in the Royal Ophthalmological Hospital, London.

Dr. Cross was also associate editor of the Cincinnati Journal of Medicine. He was a member of the American Medical Association, Cincinnati Academy of Medicine, American College of Surgeons, Queen City Club, Cincinnati Country Club, Masonic order, and the Episcopal Church.

During the World War he was an examiner for the First Draft Board. After the armistice, Dr. Cross was President of the Disability Board of Medical Officers, supervising reconstruction work.

BURIAL TO BE TOMORROW.

His widow, Mrs. Josephine Cross, a son, Frank B. Cross, Jr., President of the Columbia Life Insurance Company, and a grandson, Frank B. Cross III, survive him. Services will be held at 2 o'clock tomorrow at the residence. Burial will be in Spring Grove.

Honorary pallbearers from the College of Medicine faculty will be Drs. Martin H. Fischer, professor of physiology; Edward F. Malone, professor of anatomy; Albert H. Freiberg, professor of orthopedic surgery; Mont R. Reid, professor of surgery; Richard S. Austin, professor of pediatrics; Stanley E. Dorst, associate professor of medicine and dean of the College of Medicine.

Honorary pallbearers from the College of Medicine Alumni Association will be Drs. Donald J. Lyle, Fred Heinold, both former Presidents of the association; Robert Rothenberg, President; Robert Kotte, Vice President; Carl Wilzbach, and W. J. Thomasson.
