HIGH VOLTAGE LINE INSULATOR.

Illustrated herewith is still another type of insulator, manufactured by Fred M. Locke, of Victor, N. Y., which is intended for high voltage work and is made for potentials from 5000 to 50,000 volts. It consists of three shells of vitrified china fastened together with glaze. The whole is mounted on a steel pin with a porcelain base. There is nothing combustible about either the insulator or the pin and it is impossible, therefore, to burn off the latter by static discharge. A double petticoat insulator of this type was illustrated in the last number of the "American Electrician," but this insulator is adapted for higher voltage and even more arduous duty.
