GLASS NEWS FROM TORONTO.

Toronto, Can., June 25. — The flint tank of the Dominion Glass Co. is still in operation with seven blow shops and three machines working with prospects of running in July.

Work of construction is being pushed on the green tank and it is rumored that the Miller pouring device will be installed next season on this tank.

Executive Officer J. I. Lenoux, of Montreal, attended the last regular meeting of Branch No. 66 and gave the members a good report concerning the trade in general. He was heartily received by our members and requested to come again.

Charles McNichol, a prominent member of Branch No. 66, passed away last week at his home, 1148 Queen street, Toronto, after a protracted illness. He became ill nearly a year ago and, though every effort was made to bring about his recovery, he did not grow stronger. The deceased was 61 years of age and was widely known throughout the bottle trade. He represented Branch 66 at numerous conventions and also served on the executive board of the G. B. B. A. He held responsible positions ever since the G. B. B. A. was organized and blowed bottles 49 years.

His friends were legion, being ever ready to lend a helping hand. He was of that nature which never sought assistance, preferring to work out for himself the problems that came into his life. He knew the glass business thoroughly and none derived more personal pleasure from the part he played in its activities.

Funeral services of an impressive nature were held last Thursday at 8:30 at the Holy Family church and a large delegation of friends attended. The pallbearers were Thomas McNichol, Charles McNichol, Jr., Tod McNichol, Harry McNichol, Andrew McNichol, and Joseph McNichol. Interment was made in Mount Hope cemetery.

The genial staff representatives of The Glassworker, Harold C. Gauding, paid this city a visit on Victoria Day. He said this city is O. K., but he likes the smell of Smoketown. We were glad to see him and sorry to note he had not been will. Hope that he will soon recover his usual good health and come again next season. — Toronto.
