Charles Schaaf, Sr., died some time ago at Wallaceburg, Can., from heart failure at the age of 74 years. He was born in Germany in 1836 and came to America in 1883, locating in Montreal, Can. He then moved to Martins Ferry, O., where he was employed several years. The deceased had a wide knowledge of chemistry and glassmaking and was well known throughout the trade. He is survived by five sons, Andrew Schaaf, a doctor in Lyons, France; Alphonse, manager of the flint department at the Sydenham Glass Co.'s plant; Charles, Jr., Edward and Frank Schaaf, of the same place.
