In the monthly bulletin of the Ohio Brass Company for February is an interesting article on porcelain insulator testing, it being an exposition of the company's own methods. The value of the article is enhanced by drawings and tables. The bulletin also shows, among other things, the type D third-rail insulator for industrial railways. The insulating medium used in the Ohio Brass Company's insulator is a semi-porcelain, a material developed by this company for the class of service mentioned. The material is said to embrace the insulating properties of pure porcelain together with the ability to withstand severe shocks and vibration.
