HERE AND THERE. · · Twenty girls employed at the Hemingray Glass Company's factories, Muncie, Ind., are out on a strike for higher wages, and have been causing the managers of the factory no small amount of trouble. They have been receiving on an average of $2.50 per week, and wanted $3, which had been refused them by Superintendent Gray, who gave them five minutes in which to leave the factory. They left, but laid in wait for Robert Hemingray, of Covington, with stones and clubs, and vowed that they would "fix" him when he left the office. He went to the city by another route, thus escaping the them. They claim they will not allow any other girls to fill their places, and it is probable that the company will have a hard time. · · |
