Owens-Illinois Acquires
Hemingray Glass Co.
Announcement was recently made by Wm. E. Levis, president of the Owens-Illinois Glass Company, Toledo, Ohio, of contracts entered into for the purchase of the entire assets and business of the Hemingray Glass Company, of Muncie, Indiana and of substantially all the assets of the O'Neill Machine Company, of Toledo.
Another recent investment of the Owens-Illinois Company is the purchase of 16,000 shares of the preferred stock of the Container Corporation of America. The fact that the Container Corporation operates in a closely related field made the investment a logical one for Owens-Illinois, but Mr. Levis states that his company does not expect to take an active part in the management of the Container Corporation.
