Because of the amount of business already done in Toronto by the company, and because of the better shipping facilities offered at the Queen City works, there is a probability that the Hamilton Glass works will be closed down here at some time in the near future, and the whole establishment moved to Toronto. The regular date for opening the works has not yet arrived, and not until next month will the Toronto branch furnaces be lighted. If the works remain here they will be run full blast till the new year, although one furnace is going now. It is said the company would consent to keep the works here if exemption was granted in taxes and water rates by the city council, and some of the aldermen are now moving to have this done. There are at least 100 men and boys employed at the Hamilton works on Hughson street. - Hamilton Spectator.
