Mr. H. M. Layne, transmission agent for the Union Light & Power Co., was in town Wednesday, trying to apprehend the parties who damaged their line on Monday evening near Simpkins' crossing. Something had been thrown across the wires causing one of them to burn in two and the ends to fall to the ground; quite a display of fireworks followed. We understand this is the first accident of the kind that has occurred since the line started in operation last November. Quite a number of insulators have been broken in the locality referred to, so it must be some thoughtless person who is doing the mischief. The company is intending to offer a reward for the guilty party.
