A full meeting of the flint glass manufacturers of the Eastern States was held in room No. 111, at the Astor House, on November 5, 1879, at which prices were advanced from ten to forty per cent; after which a permanent organization was effected under the name of the "Protective Association of Flint Glass Manufacturers of the Eastern States," with Mr. James Gillinder, of Philadelphia, as president; Mr. George E. Hatch, of Meriden, as secretary. The following firms were represented: - Boston and Sandwich Glass Co., by S. H. Fressendeu; New England Glass Works, by W. L. Libbey; Union Glass Co., by J. P. Gregory; Meriden Glass Co., by George F. Hatch; Mt. Washington Glass Co., by F. S. Shirley; Hibbler & Dorflinger, of Brooklyn; J. W. Sibell & Co., of Greenpoint, L. I.; E. de La Chapelle & Co., of Brooklyn; Frank Trill, of Brooklyn; P. Schneider's Sons, of Brooklyn; C. Mayer, of Brooklyn; Dannenhoffer Bros., of Brooklyn; J. N. Huwer, of Brooklyn; C. Dorflinger, of White Mills, Pa.; Brox & Buckley, of Port Jervis, N. Y.; W. Pountney, of Port Jervis, N. Y.; Corning Flint Glass Co., by A.
