CONVENTION OF LANTERN MANUFACTURERS.

 

The manufacturers of lanterns throughout the United States met at the Grand Hotel, Cincinnati, on the 16th and 17th insts. General Gdmour, of the Grand, had no notice of their coming, but managed to give the convention good apartments, although entertaining a railroad convention at the same time. A permanent organization was formed under the name of the American lantern Manufacturers' Association.

Charles T. Haw, of Rochester, was elected president; David Cleg, of St. Louis, Secretary and treasurer.

An established price list was adopted, at which lanterns shall be sold by a discount from or a percentage to it.

The following gentlemen were elected as an executive committee: J. M Adams, of Chicago; W. H. Perkins, Meriden, Conn.; L. R. Morse, New York; Wm. Porter, Jr., New York; T. B. Osborne, New York.

It was decided that the meetings hereafter shall be held quarterly. The next meeting will be held at Cleveland, the fourth Wednesday of next May.

Buck & Co., St. Louis; Adams & Westlake Manufacturing Company, Chicago; New England Glass Company, of Boston; Hemingray Glass Company, of Cincinnati; Miller, Dubrul & Porter's Manufacturing Company of Cincinnati; Loeffelholz & Prior, Milwaukee; Buffalo Steam Gauge and Lantern Company; Rochester; Kelly Lamp Works, Rochester; Byron Manufacturing Company, Bellaire.
