BOTTLE MANUFACTURERS.

The Western vial and bottle manufacturers, representing twenty-one manufactories located west of the Allegheny Mountains, held a business meeting in Room No. 23, Grand Pacific Hotel, on Thursday afternoon of last week. The president, Capt. Evans, of Covington, Ky., being absent, Mr. J. H. Chambers, of Pittsburgh, presided, and Mr. L. S. Smith, of St. Louis, acted as secretary of the meeting, which was strictly private. The manufacturers transacted considerable routine business of importance to the vial and bottle trade, and it is quite likely that a sharp increase in the price of vials and bottles will result. It was thought that the late spring and frosts in the fruit regions would have a tendency to depress the usually large summer and fall trade in fruit and pickle jars and bottles. Mr. L. S. Smith was continued as secretary of the Association.
