One of the handsomest and most useful oil cans in the market is the "Empress" oil can, manufactured by the Hemingray Glass Company, Cincinnati. The body of this can is made of glass, which is not affected, as nearly all metals are, by the powerful corrosive action of coal oil. It is strong and thick, and for further security is encased in a heavy corrugated tin covering, with a layer of felt at the bottom to resist the effect of accidental falls or collisions. It is, withal, an ornamental article of household use, pretty in design, with the handle and spout conveniently arranged. There are holes cut through the tin on one side whereby one can see the amount of oil contained in the can. Dealers should not be without these cans as the sell at sight. This company also manufacture a general assortment of lamps, globes, fonts, molasses cans, jelly glasses, flasks, beer bottles, etc., and the name of the house is a guarantee for the superiority of their productions.
