Pottery News · · The Bell Pottery Co., which is erecting the new pottery at Columbus, O., has re-elected the old board of directors with the addition of M. F. Frey. · · The Akron Insulator and Marble Co., of Akron, O., manufacturer of clay specialties, is putting some new machinery in its factory which will greatly increase the facility of manufacture. · · The Robinson-Merrill Pottery Co., of Akron, O., has reduced its capital stock from $500,000 to $1,000, in order to avoid the payment of the tax of one-tenth of one per cent levied upon the stock of corporation in the state of Ohio. · · The fire which occurred at the works of the William Brunt Pottery, at East Liverpool, O., several days ago, was one of the worst fires that the pottery industry has seen for some time. Everything was done that was possible to save the plant from entire destruction, and while succeeding in this the damage to the plant and goods was $35,000. The main walls of the building had to be torn down, causing much loss. The loss to the stock alone was nearly half of the above amount. |
