THE TELEGRAPH.

The Baltimore & Ohio Telegraph Co. has placed a cable across the Mississippi river from Bird's Point to Cairo. It is 635 feet long, weighs 10 1/2 tons, and contains eight wires. The Baltimore & Ohio wires will be ready for work from Cairo north by the last of the month. They are to extend down the Texas & St. Louis Railroad to New Orleans and Galveston
