AN OLD RESIDENT
Passed Away at an Early Hour This Morning.
Richard Thomas died at his residence on Seventh street this morning at 3:45, after a lingering illness of 14 weeks. Deceased was aged 68 years, and for the past 60 years of his life he has been a resident of this place, starting at the bottom of the ladder and working his way up until at the time of his death he was the president of the R. Thomas & Sons company's plant, one of the largest in the city. Mr. Thomas was a charter member of Riddle Lodge, F. & A. M., and his death leaves but two charter members of that lodge living; he was also a member of the Grand Army, and was an earnest consistent member of the First Presbyterian church. He was beloved and respected by all who knew him. Deceased leaves a wife and seven children to mourn his loss. The Masons will have charge of the funeral, which will take place from his late residence on Wednesday afternoon at 1:30, Rev. Lee officiating. Remains will be interred at Riverview cemetery.
