A Good Report From Green, Flint and Window Houses. MUNCIE, IND., May 1 - All of the glass factories here are having a very satisfactory run. At the Nelson glass works, where the product is exclusively fruit jars, a fine quality of glass is being produced daily and they are turning out large quantities of jars. They have had a very successful run, and consequently the men, as well as the firm, are happy. They are shipping jars to all points of the compass, and every day you can see their genial and smiling manager, J. J. Pennypacker, with his sleeves rolled up, shipping jars. By the way, Joe has been very successful and this company has one of the conducted and equipped factories in the country in consequence. This company will increase their capacity next season by building a tank. Ball Bros, are running their works to their fullest capacity night and day. In a few days they will start another large tank, which will make two large continuous tanks - an 8 and 14-pot furnaces - besides two smaller tanks for producing white liners. This firm are shipping Mason jars to all parts of the United States, and have made some shipment to South America and Africa. This company are the largest manufacturers of fruit jars in the world; they make all of their own trimmings besides supplying a number of other manufacturers. The Port Glass Co. are having a very successful run under the efficient management of Charles Dilloway. Their out-put consists of fruit jars, catsups, flasks, &c. They are operating an 8 and 2-pot furnace. George Foster, ex-member of the executive board, is working here. The Muncie Glass Co. are having a successful run; their out-put consists of a general line of prescription ware and bottles. At the Hemingray glass works everything is hustle and bustle. They are having a very successful run on their particular line of ware. Maring, Hart & Co. are moving along smoothly with their tank and turning out large quantities of window glass. At Over's glass works, everything is working nicely and everybody happy. In fact, there is no part of the glass industry in this pushing city that is not working to their fullest capacity, and this speaks well for the future of the glass business in this section. - MUNCIE. |
