In the Circuit Court of Deleware [sic] Delaware county, Ind., suit has been filed against the Lake Erie & Western Railroad Co. for damages alleged to have accrued through the destruction of the property of the Hemingray Glass Co., of Covington, Ky., at Muncie. It is alleged that the fire was caused by a spark from the engine of the defendant, and damages amounting to $69,964.96 are demanded. The plaintiffs are Hemingray Glass Co., Manchester Fire Insurance Office, Western Assurance Co., Traders' of Chicago, St. Paul Fire and Marine, Imperial Fire, Evansville of Evansville, Lancashire of Manchester, Indiana Underwriters, British America of Toronto, Hamburg-Bremen, Norwich Union, North British and Mercantile, Springfield Fire and Marine, and State Investment & Insurance Co. The fire took place on June 18, 1892. The case will come up during the September term of the court.
