O-I To Expand Two TV Tube Plants
Plans for a multi-million dollar expansion of its two television bulb plants have been announced by Owens-Illinois, Inc. A new glass melting furnace will be placed in operation at the company's Columbus, Ohio plant and an existing furnace will be converted to bulb production at the Muncie, Ind., plant. The program will increase O-I's capacity for picture tube envelopes by 25%.
