CORRECTION. — The statement in last week's Journal (p. 936) that the late Mr. Cromwell Varely held the office of chief engineer and electrician to the Electric and International Telegraph Company until the taking over of the telegraphs by Government, is incorrect, as Mr. R. S. Culley was appointed chief engineer in 1866, and on the transfer of the telegraphs to the State, early in 1870, was then appointed engineer-in-chief to the Post-office.
