GLASS MANUFACTURERS AND WORKERS CONFER.
A preliminary conference between the National Association of Manufacturers of Pressed and Blown Glassware and the American Flint Glassworkers' Union was held at the rooms of the American Association of Flint and Lime Glass Manufacturers, Stevenson Building, Sixth avenue, on Friday last. On behalf of the manufacturers the following were present: H. Sellers McKee, of McKee Bros., president; John B. Higbee, of Bryce, Higbee & Co.; Capt. Ed. Muhleman, of the Crystal Glass Co., Bridgeport, Ohio; James D. Wilson, of the Tarentum Glass Co.; Ralph Hemingray, of the Hemingray Glass Co., Muncie, Ind.; James E. Duncan, of Geo. Duncan's Sons & Co., and representatives of the Specialty Glass Co., East Liverpool, Ohio; the Canton Glass Co., Marion, Ind.; and the Model Flint Glass Co., Albany, Ind. They talked over the situation with the officials of the workers' organization in an informal manner, but nothing definite was done pending the annual convention of the latter, in session on the Southside this week. Next Monday, July 12, was fixed as the date for another conference between the parties, when it is expected that a full discussion of the wage scale and other matters affecting their mutual relations will be had and conclusions arrived at for the coming year. |
