FLINTS CONVENTION ENDED. All of the General Officers Elected by Acclamation.
The flint glass workers concluded their work on Saturday last and an adjournment of the convention took place at 12:10 P. M. The last work of the convention was the election of officers which was made by acclamation, there being no opposition to the re-election of the general officers, Messrs. Smith, Kunzler, and Clare. The general and executive officers elected were as follows: President and treasurer, W. J. Smith, of Pittsburg; vice president, F. H. Williams, of Baltimore; secretary, John Kunzler, Pittsburg; assistant secretary, W. Clare, Pittsburg. Executive board officers were chosen as follows: Shade branch — J. J. Schutta, Brooklyn; John Moorehouse, Monaca, Pa. Prescription branch — Mark S. Branin, Millville, N. J.; Harry Mackinaw, Alton, Ill.; P. H. McGuigan, Gas City, Ind.; Henry Kunkle, Bellaire, O. Press branch — Peter Schaaf, Jeannette, Pa.; John F. Tobin, Moundsville, W. Va.; Chas. Bryson, Pittsburg; C. N. Edmonds, Greentown, Ind. Chimney branch — Hugh McGinness, Steubenville, O.; Thomas Conboy, Alexandria, Ind.; H. T. Smith, Brooklyn; John Klumpp, Pittsburg. Caster place branch — M. S. Kane, Millville, N. J.; Cornelius Sullivan, Philadelphia. Iron mold branch — A. Latourness, Brooklyn; Erank Howard, Coraopolis, Pa.; Wm. Hassner, Marion, Ind. Mold making department — D. W. Vaux, Pittsburg; John Stanger, Millville; William Keefer, Marion, Ind. Cutting branch — Joseph Smith, New York; Patrick Healy, Toledo, O. Engraving department — F. C. Dickens, Pittsburg. Stoppering department — Benjamin Heritage, Millville. Paste mold branch — T. W. Rowe, Toledo, O.; Frank Lyons, Wheeling, W. Va. Lamp working department — L. W. Schlagel, Millville. Insulator branch (new) — A. J. Evans, Muncie, Ind. For Canada — E. O. A. Sullivan, Montreal, Canada. Several new features were infused into the work. One was the introduction of the insulator branch, a department which has not been heretofore represented on the executive board. Another was the appointment of a member for Canada, who will have charge of all the executive work for the Canadian district. James Morrison, of Anderson, Ind., was elected delegate to the convention of the American Federation of Labor. Zanesville, O., was selected as the place of holding the 21st annual convention next year. A feature decided upon at the convention was the throwing open of all non-union factories to the workers except the plant of the Robinson Glass Company, at Zanesville, O., and the Greensburg Glass Co., Greensburg, Pa. The ban is still placed on these factories. |
