Libbey-Owens-Ford enters into a licensing agreement with Pilkington Brothers for the Pilkington-developed float glass process. Compagnie de St. Gobain acquires a site for a float glass factory at Savigliano, Italy, expects to be first on the continent to use the float process.

December

Alastair B. Pilkington, Pilkington Bros. director, predicts that within a few years the float process will completely supersede plate glass.
