8,000 workers strike Pilkington Brothers in London, over minor wage card miscalculation, strike spreading to 12 other Pilkington plants. (Strike ended May 22.)

May

Pilkington Glass of Canada reports second float glass facilty in Canada will start production in late 1970.

September

Russia's first float glass plant, under Pilkington license, goes on stream at Bor, 200 miles cast of Moscow.
