The accompanying illustration shows a high-voltage transmission glass insulator manufactured by the Brookfield Glass Company, of New York. This company has been very successful in the manufacture of glass insulators for high-voltage work, and the one illustrated was constructed for a transmission line carrying 45,000 volts. The diameter of the insulator is 7 1/2 ins.; its height is 5 1/2 ins., and the distance measured around the insulator from the cable to the pin is about 12 ins. The groove for the cable is 1 1/4 ins. in diameter, and the weight of the insulator is 4 1/2 lbs.
