· · The Hall China Company, which recently purchased the old Goodwin pottery plant, corner of East Sixth Street and Broadway, plans to assume possession of its new holdings January 23. A portion of the plant is now occupied by the Davidson-Stevenson Porcelain Company. This company, however, has been given a free site in Chester and plans the erection of a modern porcelain plant as soon as the weather permits. Six kilns will be operated by the Hall China Company, requiring the services of approximately eighty employees. A general line of cooking ware now being manufactured at the present plant of the Hall Company will be extended when the new plant is placed in operation. Repairs entailing an expenditure of several thousand dollars will be made on the plant before it is ready for occupancy. R. T. Hall, member of the Hall China Company, states. "The slip house will be practically rebuilt, while portions of the building which have fallen into decay will have to be replaced. It is planned to start operations in the plant about May 1. |
