Defendant.

MINGLED MUCH IN SOCIETY

Romantic WeddIng of Mabel Harding.

Prominent in Ohio City. Recalled

By the Suit.

The announcement in Muncie that Mabel Harding McAbee, of Cleveland, O., has filed suit for divorce from Phillip W. McAbee, who for several months has been in this city, will cause sensation among his many Muncie friends, who have believed that he was not married. Since his residence in Muncie, McAbee he has been elected to membership in the Muncie and country clubs, leading social organizations. His pleasant manner has won for him a host of friends, among whom are numbered young women, very prominent in social circles.

His marriage was romantic and was soon declared a failure. While employed as a clerk in Cleveland, he became enamoured [sic] enamored with Miss Mabel Harding and she with him. She was of wealthy parents, Mr. and Mrs. Frank W. Harding, and was engaged to wed a wealthy young man in Cleveland.

The marriage of Miss Harding and McAbee was opposed by her parents, so the two ran away from home to have the knot tied. The wedding occurred in a small Ohio city, Aug 15, 1902. Upon their return to Cleveland, they were met at the train by her father. He informed his daughter she might choose between her parents and her husband. She chose the latter and gave up a home with every comfort to share lots with Mr. McAbee.

After living together only a short while. Mrs. McAbee decided to go back to Cleveland and live with her papa and mama. The husband came to Muncie. He is secretary of the Muncie Pipe company which has been doing considerable business since the development of the Delaware county oil field.

Mr. McAbee was apprised of his wife's action by wire yesterday, and left for Cleveland, it is understood, last night. Before leaving he refused to make a statement concerning the case.
