MOSCOE IS UNDER ARREST
BOY’S CONDITION IMPROVED
Man Who Threw Insulator at Crowd
of HBoys is Under a $1,000 Bond
Pending Outcome of Injury
of Hawley Boy.
Clarence Moscoe, who threw the glass insulator which struck Charles Hawley in the back of the head at Hemingray's glass factory Monday night, was arrested Tuesday morning by the police and has confessed to having throwing missle which cut the boy s cap and head and caused a fracture of the skull. He has been placed under $1,000 bond and this may be raised if the Hawley boy does not recover. At present a charge of assault and battery stands against Moscoe. After his arrest Moscoe confessed to the police that he had picked up the glass insulator and thrown it through the open door into the dark at a crowd of fellow workmen who had been throwing snowballs at him and causing him some annoyance. He claims that he did not wish to hit any one in particular and was not aware that he had injured the Hawley boy. "I am sorry for the boy," he said, "but that does not help things now."
The condition of Charles Hawley Tuesday afternoon was easier and his chances of recovery are increasing. At first it was thought that his death was a matter of only a short time, but he is rallying and Dr. O. I. Reasoner, the attending physician, says that he has fair chances to live.
Moscoe is a married man and has lived in Muncie only about a year. He came from Lexington, Ky. and his reputation among his fellow workmen has always been good.
