A novel and original bridal party was given last evening by Miss Eva Winchester, of West Jackson street. The entertainment was a kitchen shower in honor of Miss Maude Neely, and was delightful. The decorations were beautiful, and of one color — red. From the chandeliers to the corners of the rooms were strings and strings of red hearts, and the curtains and walls were delicately decorated with red autumn leaves of various kinds. The game of the evening was hearts, and everything was in harmony with the game. The score cards were in the shape of wedding bells, red and white, and tally was kept with tiny red hearts. Partners for the game were chosen by the matching of red and white candy hearts having the same saying printed on them, fastened to the tally cards with red and white ribbon The sayings were very appropriate, they say, and amusing. Some of them read: "Married on bicycle: wife mill be an icicle," "Married in white, have chosen all right," "Married with gold ring; shall be a silly thing."
After a fine game it was learned that the prizes were won by Mrs. Edgar Johnson and Miss Netta Gass, the former securing a hand-painted heart-shaped china bon-bon tray, and the latter a bottle of catsup, the booby prize.
Then light refreshments were served, after which Miss Neely unwrapped the packages placed before her, and found a large number of valuable and useful cooking utensils.
The guests were: Miss Maude Neely, Miss Maude Studley and Miss Edith Cary, of Grand Rapids, Mich.; Miss Corella Taylor, of Indianapolis; Miss Pearl Bennett, Miss Edna Boyce, Miss Llewellyn Hemingray, Miss Edith Kirby, Miss Reba Koons, Miss Clarissa Koons, Miss Emily Olcott, Miss Grace Wood, Miss Bess Williams, Miss Erna Eiler, Miss Helen Smith, Miss Edith King, Miss Ellen Marsh, Miss Carrie Andrews, Miss Vida Cassady, Miss Linnie Coffeen, Miss Elizabeth Ellis, Miss Netta Gass, Miss Helen Hickman, Miss Ida Jacobs, Miss Abbie Kuechmann, Miss Florence McNaughton, Miss Reba Richey, Miss Bertha Smith, Miss Fannie Turner, Miss Cora Emerson, Mrs. J. Edgar Johnson, Mrs. Walter Andrews, and Mrs. Armstead Klein.
