ANNUAL OCCASION.
Open Meeting by One of Muncie's
Patriotic Organizations.
Daughters of the Revolution Entertain
Friends Eligible to Membership at
the Home of Mrs. Marsh.
The Daughters of the Revolution society held an open meeting yesterday afternoon at the home of Mrs. W. M. Marsh, it being the annual occasion.
Each member was privileged to bring one guest, she having to be eligible to membership in the society, and there were about forty present to enjoy the hospitality of Mrs. Marsh, and hear the interesting program.
The house decorations were a great feature of attraction. Large flags of national colors swung gracefully from pictures in the rear parlor, forming the decorations for this room. In the dining room the chosen colors of the order, blue and white, prevailed. The white walls and blue ruggett were in perfect harmony with the streamers of china silk over the mantel. The dishes, doilies and other table furnishings were blue and white and the effect throughout was charming.
Mm. J. A. Heinsohn, the Regant [sic] Regeant, made the address of welcome, followed by The Collett of the society, repeated by Rev. W. H. Oxtoby. Patriotic songs were next indulged in, with Miss Love at the piano and Mrs. Durham leading in the vocal music.
Mrs. Robert Hemingray followed with a highly interesting paper with a composition for the good of the order. She recited incidents where the present age was now ransacking old chest [sic] chests that have not been opened for years, with hopes of finding some paper containing a bit of valuable history that would entitle them to membership in the order, and she gave evidence of the good the new order is doing.
The meeting was the most interesting of the many held by the local society.
