ANNUAL SESSION Of the Indiana Federation of Trade and Labor Unions. Meeting Being Held at Marion With Large Attendance Accorded a Hearty Welcome Proceeding of First Day. The 13th annual session of the Indiana Federation of Trade and Labor unions was held in Marion yesterday with a large attendance present. The meeting was held in Commercial club hall and was called to order at 10:30 o’clock by President Edgar Perkins of Indianapolis. After a few preliminary remarks he introduced Mayor Von Behren, who made the welcoming address to the delegates on the behalf of Marion. President Bond of the Marion Trades Council followed the mayor with a few appropriate remarks and in response President Perkins thanked the mayor and people of Marion for the cordial welcome that had been extended the visiting delegates. The regular business of the meeting was then taken up, commencing with the appointment of committees, which resulted as follows: On Credential — Conrad Smith, Anderson; Al Evans, Muncie; George Doggett, Marion; I. Barnett, Indianapolis; W. E. Snyder, South Bend. On Rules — Charles Carter, Logansport; A. G. Dye, Anderson; E. P. Burg, Indianapolis; James Swattman, Elwood; Pat Kelly, Marion. The meeting was then adjourned until 1:30.
AFTERNOON SESSION.
Meeting was called to order by President Perkins. The committee on credentials and rules reported favorably on the seating of 100 delegates. The reports of the secretary and the committee on rules were received and adopted, after which the following committees were appointed: On resolutions — John G. White, Indianapolis; George F. Gelts, Muncie; Charles Carter, Logansport; G. Hinds, Fort Wayne; Thomas Creighton, Dunkirk. Petitions — G. G. Hesh, Fort Wayne; Edward Heely, Marion; Arthur Warren, Gas City; George W. Simpson, Summitville; Ida Keys, Indianapolis. On Law — James Swattman, Elwood; Mrs. Gossline, Fort Wayne; Edward Seldomridge, Muncie; D. T. Stoddard, Indianapolis; Frank Moore, Marion. State organization: John E. Jones, Montpelier; Peter Hemmeli, Indianapolis; George Lamont, Muncie; David Lloyd, Marion. President's address and secretary's report: M. Taylor, Muncie; Harry Decker, Indianapolis; L. Harney, South Bend; F. D. Phillips, Ft. Wayne; Wm. Comstock, Elwood. The report of the State organizer was read and accepted and several resolutions were offered and referred to the committee on resolutions. The session was adjourned at 3:30 o'clock and the majority of the delegates were treated to a trolley ride and paid a visit to the soldiers' home. The delegates are quartered at the Hatfield and Bay Cove hotels. |
