Celebration To Be Held In This
City September 1
Muncie will have as her guests today two or three hundred representatives of the different trade unions over the state, and all parts of Indiana are expected to represented.
It is the first meeting of the delegates to formulate plans and appoint committees for the various kinds of work that will be necessary to make the state celebration, that is to occur in Muncie, the biggest of all like events.
The date for the celebration, Monday, September 1, is quite a good ways off, but there is a large amount of work to do, and the men are willing to get at it early. The last celebration was held in Andersom, and the first meeting looking forward to the '97 celebration has been held and the following officers were chosen:
President — James Dye, Anderson.
Vice President — John A. Fox, Muncie.
Secretary — James R. McClain, Muncie.
Assistant Secretary — Albert Evans Muncie.
Treasurer — Will Toban, Muncie.
These officers will be in charge of the meeting here today. It will occur in Union Labor hall this afternoon.
It is desired that all delegates from the local unions be present promptly at a meeting at the National Hotel at 10:30 o’clock this morning, for special business, before the afternoon meeting.
