DOINGS OF POLICE.

Two More Suspects Jailed Last

Evening.

Others Arranged Before the Mayor

— One Released — Mrs. Hickman

Can Get Aid if Deserving

Patrolmen Ball, Benadum, Vickery and acting Captain Benbow made another visit to the hollow ware works last evening and arrested William Wilson and Frank Fears, both colored, on charges of having brought stolen goods in the county. The arrests are in keeping with the other captures made in police circles within the past few days, and may result in a sensational catch when the proper investigation is completed, and they will be held several days before this is done. The men like the others arrested at this place are alleged to be ex-convicts who came here with the Pattons from the Ohio state prison at Columbus.

ARRAIGNED IN COURT.

Yesterday morning in police court George Purcell, Stemler Jarvis, Louden Purcell, and Carl and Otto Raines, connected with the recent burglaries, were arraigned before Mayor Cromer on the different charges yesterday and the trials of all except the first two named were set for March 10. The grand jury will investigate the cases of George Purcell and Jarvis. Louden Parcel was released on his own recognizance, but the others were remanded to jail. Mrs. Hickman was not brought out of jail.

IS WELL CONNECTED.

Lafe Ross of Farmland was in Muncie last evening, and at the request of several good families who are related to Mrs. Hickman, he called at the jail to see the woman for the purpose of reporting to them as to whether she deserved their sympathy and assistance. Upon the arrival of Mr. Ross at the jail the woman broke down and could not talk for crying and Mr. Ross could get no satisfaction from her, but it is very doubtful if her Randolph county relatives come to her aid, as her connection with the crooked work will cause them to refuse to recognize her, as they are among the very best people in the town and vicinity of Farmland.

MANY PEOPLE SHAKING.

The police are still at work on several important clues, and each day brings forth new, and in some instance, startling developements [sic] developments. While there is no doubting the guilt of some of those in jail, it is safe to predict that there are others, and many of them too, and some of these people are expecting to be arrested momentarily, and if the public generally, would divulge the knowledge they have on all lines of suspicion, the jail would likely be full inside of 24 hours. At any rate the bold work will be greatly lessened in Muncie, for a time at least, while the other side of the house, so to speak, is having restless nights.

PATROLMAN TURNERS TRICK.

Patrolman Turner turned up a splendid clue last evening, and the result which will likely be known this evening, will cause a shock to the gang. Patrolman Benadum is detailed to ferret it out today.
