AFTERNOON RECEPTION.
Mesdames Little and Thomas
Delight a Large Party.
At their beautiful new home on East Adams street, Mrs. W. L. Little and her daughter, Mrs. Suzane Thomas, were charming hostesses to over 150 lady friends yesterday from 3 to 6 o'clock.
It was the first reception given in the palatial new home and proved the crowning event of the kind in Muncie society circles thus far this season. No home could have been more inviting, the brilliancy of the lavish furnishings being added to with a tastful [sic] tastetful display of cut roses, potted plants, holly and smilax throughout the spacious hall and several rooms, while the handsome gowns presented by the ladies formed a fairy land scene.
The guests were received by Mrs. Little and her daughter, and Mrs. Morton Norton, nee Kilgore, of Anderson, in the reception room. Mrs. Little was gowned in a black grenadine, with diamond and pearl ornaments. Mrs. Thomas wore a handsome gown of black and white, with diamond ornaments. Mrs. Norton wore a French creation of chameleon silk with lace and jewel trimmings. Mesdames Howe and Phinney served the guests in the tea and coffee room. Mrs. Sampson and Miss Wilson presided at the punch bowl and Mesdames J. M. Kirby, Highlands and Winans were constantly at the service of the ladies in the dining room. Light refreshments were served during the reception, and the full opera house orchestra discouraged especially arranged music from the hall at the head of the stairs on the second floor.
There was more than the usual happy social intercourse to charm the ladies, as it was the first visit to the colonial new home, and its beauty affords a pleasure to the visitor, that will attract ones admiration for hours.
