CINCINNATI, O., July 9 — Muncie representatives at the Grand Lodge of Elks meeting took full charge of Cincinnati tonight after their drill corps won first prize in the big contest this afternoon.

The parade covered a distance of five and a half miles and was witnessed by immense crowds. The reviewing stand was in front of the Government building but the judges in carriages viewed the contesting lodges for the prizes at several unknown places along the route, but the principal drill was made on governmental square where over 20,000 people assembled. The parade was the largest in the history of the order and strictly a parade, every lodge participating, being in uniform. Louisville, Cleveland, Toledo, Terre Haute and Detroit were the most dangerous opponents to the Magic City corps, which was placed in the rear of the long column. Evansville was not a contestant and asked to be placed behind Muncie, agreeing to hold back so as to give the corps a good chance to make her executions, and great credit is due them from Muncie.

The Louisville Corps of 32 members was in full dress suits, silk hats, white gloves, patent leather shoes; and Toledo was in white duck with caps of same. The only error made by the Muncie Corps was in front of the Reviewing stand, where a command given was not heard in the rear.

Muncie's fancy movements were not attempted by competitors in but two instances and cheers of "You will win in a walk" greeted the Muncie all along the line by the cheering thousands. At the reviewing stands the short exhibition drill caused tremendous applause. All members of the company worked hard during the parade, Dan Hemingray and Henry Keller followed the judges to see that Muncie got square play and did fine work. Out of a possible 480 points Muncie scored 438 Louisville 381 and on appearance Toledo got 58 out of a possible 60. The three prizes were awarded accordingly.

The parade was delayed until 4 o’clock by rain and the decisions were made at 7 o’clock. The Muncie people with the City band, headed by Charley Murray with the banner reading "Muncie First Prize," paraded through the hotels and prominent streets, followed by 2,000 cheering men.

Tonight open house was kept in Evansville headquarters at the Burnett House until midnight and Muncie badges and buttons went at a big premium.

It was the greatest advertisement the metropolis of the gas belt has ever had. A half dozen lodges called on Muncie tonight congratulating and cheering her.

The drill corps will leave for home with the elegant $200 banner tomorrow afternoon arriving at 7:40 p. m.
