KINDERGARTEN BALL.
Was a Happy Event But Not a
Success Financially.
The reception and ball given under auspices of the Muncie Free Kindergarten Association in the pavillion [sic] pavilion at Westside park last night was not the success hoped for from a financial point of view, but those who attended enjoyed a very delightful time. The price of admission had been made very nominal, in fact too low, and with such delightful weather for dancing the beautiful hall should have been filled, but it was not. There were about 50 couple present, composing the best elements of society, and they danced and drank ice water until after 11 o’clock. Fans were not very much in evidence, and the music had to be urged along to please the dancers, so anxious were they not to get cold.
Mrs. H. H. Highlands was master of ceremonies and in keeping the program arranged best to suit the surroundings a couple of platform speeches were necessary, but she executed these with the same perfection she exercised in calling a square dance, proving quite an adept.
Among the guests present were: Messrs, and Mesdames R. J, Beatty, Corydan Rich, Robert Sheffield, James Bingham, Ralph Hemingray, William Patterson, R. Winters; Mesdames E. J. Whiteley, H. H. Highlands, C. G. Neely, G. O. Cromwell, B Bradbury, A. E. Smith, J. E. Durham and her guests, Miss Sheren of Cincinnati and Miss Jessie Lovett of Indianapolis, Misses Alice Foulke, Mame Brotherton, Fannie Shipley, Bessie Williams, Nadine Wilson, Lottie Wiles of Indianapolis, Cliff Bower, Edith Love, Fannie Turner, Winifred Smith, Jeanette Love, Sarah and Harriet McCulloch, Clara and Ohle Gill, Mae Heath, Bessie Williams, Hattie Johnson, Anna Goddard, Alice Hamilton, Edith King, Helen Smith, Mayne Cokefair of Anderson, and Messrs. W. P. Stevens, Hal Kimbrough, Benjamin and Robert Williams, J. M. Maring, Edward Ball, Harry Cates, Sam Wilkinson, Harry Flowers, John Ryan, Will Goddard and his friend Mr. Cook of Michigan, Homer Bowles, Robbin Hemingray, Norwood Carnes, Mark Bratton, Deo Banta, Edward Walker and L. S. Ganter.
