Kimbrough and Smith were out a few hours and had to quit work be fore they were through, as they alone secured more than the amount required. In all they collected $74, and the S. of V. committee is yet to hear from. They will make a complete report at the meeting called for tonight. Yesterday

A GENERAL ORDER.

General Order No. 1. — Having been appointed chief marshal of the Memorial day parade the assistant marshals of the several orders and societies are directed to report for consultation and assignment at the office of Leffler & Ball on Thursday evening, May 28, at 7:30 o'clock.

ALL SHOULD DECORATE.

The committee on decoration urges every person to decorate their homes with flags and bunting and especially for the businessmen to be generous in the display they make early Saturday morning.

FACTORIES TO CLOSE.

Yesterday The Newsman called on several manufacturers to ascertain if they intended to observe the day by closing down. Some were too much rushed with work while others will observe the day, although quite busy. The window glass factories will all be closed for the season. The J. H. Smith & Co. Bent Wood works, Indiana Iron works, Muncie iron and Steel works, and very likely the Whiteley Malleable Iron works will be closed all day. The Hemingray Glass works, Midland Steel works, Indiana Bridge works and Ball Bros.' Glass works, will close down at noon. The Muncie Flint Glass works, Consumers' Paper company, Pulp mill and Common Sense Engine works will not close.
