LEAP YEAR BALL.

A Brilliant Assembly at the Pavilion

Last Evening.

With the thermometer hovering near 80 last night Muncie entertained a select party dance that was equal to any swell Christmas ball that has ever occurred in the city. It was a leap year ball given in the pavillion [sic] pavilion at Westside park by three of Muncie's popular young ladies and on very short notice.

A few days since Misses Josephine Gray, Edna Streeter and Nadine Wilson conceived the idea of giving a leap year ball in the pavillion [sic] pavilion, issued over a half hundred invitations to select friends, and nearly all of them reported last evening.

The ladies assumed the part of host in every part and they did it in a manner most pleasing to the fortunate gentlemen. There was a refreshing breeze afloat, so much so that unfortunately for them, some took fright and departed for home at 10 o'clock, but the strong wind only added to the pleasure and the hour for departure of all was greeted after 12 with much regret.

Delightful music was rendered by the opera house orchestra and ices and other light refreshments were served free of charge during the entire evening, by the three hostesses, with Caterer Rhine Hummel in charge.

The ladies were mostly clad in silk waists with black oragandie skirts, some of the costumes being quite pretty. The grand march was led by Mr. Ralph Hemingray and Mrs. H. H. Highlands at 8:30 o’clock.

The following persons were present:
