Funeral of John R. Ervin.
At noon Sunday the casket that contained the remains of John R. Ervin was closed and his friends nod relatives had gazed upon him for the last time.
The funeral was attended by a large number of veterans of the late war, members of Muncie lodge, No. 245, B. P. O. Elks, and members of the three tribes of I. O. R. M. of Muncie.
After leaving the residence the procession marched to the Si. Lawrence Catholic church on East Charles street where the services were held, conducted by Rev. Father Weichman of Gas City, a personal friend of the deceased.
The services concluded at the church, the cortege wended its way with solemn tread to Beech Grove cemetery where all that was mortal of John Ervin was consigned to its last resting place in the bosom of the Earth, around the grave standing hundreds of friends listening to the beautiful ritualistic work of the Red Men and then the Elks. The floral offerings were numerous and beautiful having been presented by friends of the deceased.
