A NOVEL PARTY.
Miss Claypool Entertained in Honor
of Her Thirteenth Birthday.
Miss Virginia Maredith Claypool, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Claypool, celebrated her thirteenth birthday anniversary last evening with a hay-wagon party to her young friends.
The following was the novel invitation:
1882 1895.
Come, little playmate, let's play grown,
We'll have a party all our own,
From seven to eight, as a merry gate,
A haywagon ride will be our fate;
From eight to ten — our games and fun,
Come, little playmates, every one.

Promptly at 7 o'clock 30 little friends arrived at her home and were welcomed by Mrs. Claypool, assisted by the young hostess and Austin B. Claypool,
The haywagon ride realized the happiest anticipation of the boys and girls, when in a haywagon decorated with golden rod and corn stalks and bright with Japanese lanterns. For one hour of they were the merriest of the merry, as they drove over the city, chaperoned by Mrs. Claypool.
After the ride the the remainder of the evening was devoted to games, after which a luncheon was served. Miss Virginia presided at the birthday cake, which was 13 lighted candles and in which was a ring, a thimble, a silver piece and other tokens. The serving of the cake created much merriment.
Miss Virginia received a large number of pretty presents and all joined in wishing her many happy birthdays. Those present were:
