Yesterday afternoon a Morning Newsman hunted up the building permit book in City Clerk Elrod's office and figured up the amount of building that had been done since book the was opened, six months ago, or the first of July.

The total amount was $314,703. This does not include the vast amount of building that has been done in Avondale, Westside, Congerville, Riverside, Whitely, Boyceton, and only a part of Industry.

What other city in Indiana, or in this part of the country can show this kind of a record ?

In Whitely you will find 200 new houses, and the big Harvesting Machine works.

In Congerville, the $150,000 Indiana, $250,000 Midland, the $30,000 Architectural, the Common Sense Engine works, and the Corrugated Iron works.

The White River Iron and Steel works near Avondale.

The Bell Stove works at Westside and a number of houses.

Hemingray’s glass works, and extensions at Ball Bros.' in Industry, and the continuous tank of Maring & Hart's at Boyceton. If all of these were counted in, the amount would run nearly $2,000,000.
