SPECIAL DISPATCH TO THE ENQUIRER.
WASHINGTON, June 4. — The Commissioner of Internal Revenue, Mr. Mason, was closeted all this afternoon with Secretary Windom arranging a number of appointments of Internal Revenue Collectors. It is expected that half a dozen or more appointments of Collectors will be announced to-morrow, among them the one for the Covington (Kentucky) District and for West Virginia. It is said that Commissioner Mason has submitted the names of three applicants for the Covington Collectorship without making any recommendation. The names of the three applicants presented by the Commissioner are J. C. Michie. J. J. Landrum and Mr. Comingore. Late this evening it was intimated that the chances were almost equal between Michie and Landrum. Three of the aspirants for the place are now in Washington. They are Captain Michie, Mr. Comingore and Dan Hemingray, who arrived this morning via Newport News and the Chesapeake Bay. The West Virginia Collector will be Mr. A. B. White, of Parkersburg.
