GLASS WORKS

CLOSED DOWN

European War Knocks Out

Orders in Prospect

"There is no prospect of the re-opening of the Long Beach glass works, so far as we can see at the present time," said W. A. Farmer, president of the California Glass Insulator company, today in reply to a query from The Telegram as to the future of the industrial establishment at West Anaheim and Hayes streets.

Mr. Farmer, who resides at 1547 East Second street, this city, gave as the reason for the prolonged inactivity of the plant, already idle for five months, the absence of any demand for insulators, and said that the European war had knocked out important deals which the company had in prospect.

The glassworks changed hands a year ago and was operated for seven months. Others principally interested in the corporation now with Mr. Farmer are M. L. Orcutt, John Morris and John Orth, all of Los Angeles. Mr. Orcutt is secretary.
