FIRES AGAIN STARTED;
PLANT IN FULL BLAST
Reorganization of Affairs of Glass Insulator Co.
Revives Important Industry
Following a complete reorganization of the controlling company, the California Glass Insulator Manufacturing company plant in the harbor district has been reopened and is now running full blast.
Fires were started on Thursday and on yesterday the first actual production under the new management was made. Shipping of the finished product will begin next week.
The plant, which has been closed for several weeks, was recently taken over by a new company which was quietly formed and is known as the California Glass Works company. Behind the reorganization and the new company is a group of wealthy Canadians who have placed several thousand dollars at the command of the management.
Shortly after the controlling company had been organized a stock issue of 45,000 shares was subscribed by the directing board of the new owners. A small amount of stock will be placed on the open market, it is said, though the total will run hardly over 5000 shares.
The first meeting of the new board of directors resulted in the selection of L. Farmer, a Canadian capitalist and manufacturer, as president
Officers of the company in a statement this morning announced that since the word of the re-opening of the plant has reached the glass trade, orders have been coming in on every mail. Though the factory’s products will be confined to bottles and insulators, it is said that the demand far exceeds the output of the plant.
Nearly 100 workmen have been employed during the past week for service in the plant, the larger portion of the men having been connected with the old company.
