On the evening of February 9, when the Cincinnati Orchestra arrays itself in satin knickers, velvet coats, "bukled shoon" and white perruques of the eighteenth century, and, in the manner of Joseph Haydn at the Court of Prince Paul Esterhazy or that of his famous brother Nicholas, “the Magnificent," lends its inspiration, under the baton of its gifted conductor, Mr. Fritz Reiner, to a special interpretation of the beautiful forms and radiant spirit of this "father of instrumental music," society will be present in force to welcome this brilliant innovation, as effective decoratively as it will be thrilling artistically. Thus, under the most fascinating auspices the romantic days of powder and patches will be revived in aid of the orchestra's service fund. The The Sinton's Louis Seize ballroom, in the perfection of its line and the character of its period, will form an ideal background for such an occasion, for it may well recall the music room at Esterhaz, where many of Haydn's most stirring compositions were written and performed; an historic place known to its day as "the little Versailles." This picture will be enhanced by the costumes of orchestra and audience; by the softly becoming candle light, in which hundreds of tapers will be used, and by many happy surprises which the evening will bring forth — plans which are to be kept "under the rose" until the brilliant audience assembles for this unique and greatly anticipated entertainment unlike anything that Cincinnati society has ever seen before.

The many acceptances received for this Haydn soiree have been flattering to the spirit in which it was conceived; generous to its goal and enthusiastic in congratulations. Numerous parties have been made up for the occasion, among the first of the hostesses to secure seats being Mrs. Robert Halstead, who will bring five guests with her, and Mrs. Hugo L. Kupferschmid, who will entertain a party of six. Other early purchasers of tickets include Mrs. Samuel Sturm, Mrs. R. B. Bowler, Miss Bertha Baur, Mrs. Arthur Espy, Mrs. Glenn Groesbeck, Mrs. Emilie Heinie, Mrs. F. D. Jamison, Mrs. Charles W. Dodd, Mrs. J. Walter Freiberg, Mrs. Julian A. Pollak, Mrs. Algfred A.
