That Boat-Race.
To the Editor of the Enquirer:
In your Sunday edition you stated that the Glass-works crew won Saturday's boat-race. Such was not the case; it was won by Jackson and Huken, of the Gas-works, this city. You also intimated something about "Returning Board decisions," & c. This was unfair to the Cincinnati boys, who are good oarsmen, and beat their opponents by sheer skill and endurance. I have never seen a better contested race on any waters than above, and the victors deserve all the credit. Another mistake occurs in the article quoted. It speaks of a shell race — but two boats were to start according to the articles of agreement, and they were to be working-boats. Respectfully yours, W. H. C.
